Member Types & Application

WCPA's membership types correspond to the stages of our members careers. All member types receive WCPA benefits and access to a welcoming community of professionals.

Full Members: Full Members must have: (1) a Doctoral degree in psychology and/or be licensed under Article 153 of the Education Law of New York State; or (2) a Master’s or Doctoral degree in school psychology and are certified under NYS Article 143; or (3) have a Doctoral degree in psychology and are working toward licensure in NYS. Any member engaged in private practice as a psychologist MUST be licensed under NYS Article 153.  Full members must live or work in Westchester, NY or the surrounding counties of Rockland, Putnam, New York City, or Fairfield, Ct.  Full members who have been in good standing who move out of the area may continue to be be Full members regardless of residency. Dues:  $110/year. The year runs from May 1 to April 30.

Early Career Members: Early Career Members meet the criteria for Full Membership and are within two years of completing their graduate degree in psychology. Dues: $75/year. The year runs from May 1 to April 30.

Associate Members: Associate Members must have (1) a Master’s degree in psychology but do not meet the criteria for Full Membership; or (2) a Doctoral degree in psychology, and are licensed in New York, but live or work outside of Westchester County or the surrounding counties of Rockland, Putnam, New York City, or Fairfield County, Ct. (and are licensed in NY). Associate Members are entitled to rights and privileges of full members, except for the right to vote and hold office. Dues: $110/year. The year runs from May 1 to April 30.

Student Affiliates: Are matriculated and enrolled as students in a recognized graduate psychology program, or are undergraduate psychology majors. Student Affiliates are entitled to all rights and privileges of full members except for the right to vote and hold office. Free.

Life Member: Full Members who have reached the age of 68 years, have been members in good standing for at least 10 years, and who are fully retired may apply to the Board of Directors to transition to Life Member. $50/year.

  • WCPA's membership year begins May 1st. Dues paid during application cover membership through April 30th.
  • Rates are prorated December 1 – February 28 at 50% of existing yearly fee
  • Applying between March 1st - April 30th? Receive up to two months free; your membership will expire the following year.
