About Us

The Westchester County Psychological Association (WCPA) is a professional organization of psychologists who live or work in Westchester County or the surrounding counties. Founded in 1954, the WCPA is affiliated with the New York State Psychological Association and through it with the American Psychological Association. It is incorporated within the State of New York as a membership corporation.

The purpose of the WCPA is to further the development of psychology as a science and as a profession, to safeguard the interests of the public and of the profession, and to provide a basis for professional growth and association among psychologists.

As an organization, WCPA is committed to promoting the interests of Westchester psychologists, as well as consumers of psychological services. Our three divisions, Clinical, School and Emerging Trends (formerly Special Interest) (cutting edge topics in psychology) sponsor presentations, networking events, and social activities. Attending any of our virtual or in person events is a wonderful way to keep current in a variety of topics, gain CE credit, get acquainted with your colleagues, and build a local network of professionals. WCPA connects the community with local psychologists through our referral service and Speakers Bureau. Our Test Kit Library gives members access to a range of current testing materials.

The Westchester Center for Psychological Education (WCPE), the Education Committee and Board of Accreditation of the WCPA, is approved by the American Psychological Association as a sponsor of Continuing Education in Psychology. Throughout the year, the WCPE sponsors credit courses, workshops and lectures on topics of interest in the field of psychology to both members of WCPA as well as non-members. Such continuing educational experiences help to keep the membership abreast of advances in psychological theory and technique.
